AHS Career Fair Grows, Offers a Mix of Ideas from Military, Medical, More

High school students from across Langlade County learned about opportunities in the military and in the various trades, discussed higher education and even raced against the clock in a pit crew contest.

Antigo High School hosted its annual career fair on Thursday, expanding the event to fill the Sheldon Fieldhouse and inviting students from Elcho and White Lake as well.

“White Lake brought approximately 50 students, and Elcho brought approximately 25 students, so over 1,000 students made their rounds,” Bree Kratz, high school counselor, said.

Principal Clint Rogers, who manned the microphone for the morning, said the event provided an excellent opportunity for students to learn about the various careers available in their hometown.

He noted that several additional businesses joined the fair this year, including Walmart, Insight FS, which brought a fertilizing simulator, and the Air Force, which arrived with a jet turbine. “All who participated were amazing,” Kratz added.

The event brought the opportunity for companies to network with their peers and we as discuss industry wants and needs with students and teachers.
