Students Offered A Lesson In logging
Students from across the Antigo school district got a firsthand look at one of Langlade County’s showcase industries—logging—at Crestwood Elementary School on Friday.
Steve Marshall Logging donated a day of service by logging the forest at Crestwood, and instructors turned it into an educational opportunity for high school students in agricultural science, forest science and construction classes along with most of the fifth graders from the district.
“This is one way of getting out the initiatives that are being implemented to showcase our industry here n Langlade County,” Angie Close, executive director of the Langlade County Economic Development Corporation, said.
According to Mike Werdeo, high school instructor, students were guided by Department of Natural Resources and county foresters to four different stations, including processor, saw mill, forest management and forest products.
Marshall’s will be donating their profits from the day to FFA and the district’s school forest program.
