The United Way of Langlade County

United Way of Langlade County is officially launching its Campaign 2025/2026 and is once again asking for financial help for the many local affiliate organizations that rely on the United way for ongoing support.

So far in 2025, your United Way has distributed funds for $235,000.00 to local non-profit organizations. Our goal is to meet or exceed last years successful campaign, as well as to maintain a reserve for emergency needs that our local affiliate may fine necessary to request during the year.

The United Way of Langlade County is a not-for-profit and tax-exempt organization that is run locally by an all-volunteer board. The Board members include; Mary Jo Filbrandt, Jane Szmanda Zeller, Matt Gaedtke, Jill Mattek-Nelson, Chelsea Payant Husnick, Katie Snipp, Rhonda Klement, Jim Fittante, Mary Prunte and Andy Merry. All Board members and directors are local area volunteers.

This Board reviewed applications from 15 organizations seeking funding this year and has completed the process of interviewing qualified organizations for final consideration. In order to qualify as a United Way affiliate and receive grant funding, the organization must be a non-profit 501(c)(3) and must distribute grant funds through services to Langlade County residents. They also must meet other criteria related to the use of United Way funds. Because the requests for funds routinely exceed the amount of funds raised, the Board completes a final review to determine the level of funding that can be offered.

Proceeds from the annual United Way campaign go directly to the local affiliate organizations. Only a very small percentage of the donations are used to purchase campaign materials such as pledge cards and brochures.

This year, the following 14 organizations received contributions from the United Way:

Avail Inc., Boys and Girls Club, Antigo Area Food Pantry, Child Caring, The Weekend Backpack Program, Girl Scouts of the Northwestern Great Lakes, Children’s Service Society, The Senior Center of Langlade County, Boy Scouts/ Samoset Council, William’s House of Hope, Salvation Army of Langlade County, Langlade County Economic Development Corp., Antigo Special Olympics and Ss. Mary and Hyacinth Charity Committee. In addition, funds are set aside to support the local Disaster Relief Fund.

Your local United Way is asking individuals and businesses to please consider giving a gift that will keep on giving to their community.

In today’s difficult economic climate every dollar given is needed to support these local organizations as they struggle to continue offering their many valuable services. These services are in greater demand now as a result of the economic challenges faced by so many families in Langlade County.

The citizens of Langlade County have a long standing and Proud tradition of supporting needed causes that serve their local communities. We are confident that the same selfless generosity will shine through once again this year.

Our United Way Campaign runs from October 31st 2025 to January 31st, 2026. You can give directly to UWLC by sending a check to P.O. Box 594 or directly through our website at https://uwlangladecounty. org.
