Langlade County’s Wolf River Territory Selected for Wisconsin REV Program to Boost Rural Entrepreneurship

Langlade County Economic Development Corporation (LCEDC) is proud to announce that the Wolf River Territory—comprised of the Village of White Lake, Town of Wolf River, and Town of Evergreen—has been selected to participate in the second cohort of the Wisconsin Rural
Entrepreneurial Venture (REV) Program, a strategic initiative led by the University of Wisconsin–Madison Extension.

LCEDC applied for the REV program in partnership with the Wolf River Territory with the goal of fostering entrepreneurship, strengthening the local business ecosystem, and supporting long-term community vitality. This opportunity builds on regional collaboration and aims to create new opportunities for residents, startups, and small businesses in some of Langlade County’s most rural areas.

“We are excited that the Wolf River Territory was chosen for the second cohort of the REV program,” said Angie Close, Executive Director of LCEDC. “This initiative will help us support entrepreneurs and develop a stronger economic future for our local communities.”

LCEDC has successfully built an entrepreneurial hub in Antigo that has supported dozens of local businesses through technical assistance, training, and startup financing. Now, through the REV program, LCEDC is excited to extend those same opportunities to more rural areas of Langlade County. By doing so, the organization aims to eliminate potential barriers related to distance and ensure all entrepreneurs—regardless of location—have access to the tools they need to succeed.

REV is a three-year program that provides tailored coaching, technical support, and resources to help rural communities grow their entrepreneurial landscape. It is specifically designed for rural populations between 1,500 and 10,000, with a focus on building diverse and resilient local economies.

Now entering its second year, Wisconsin REV is developed in partnership with Compeer Financial, Southern Minnesota Initiative Foundation (SMIF), and e2 Entrepreneurial Ecosystems, with funding support from Compeer Financial.

LCEDC looks forward to working closely with UW–Madison Extension and local partners to implement this program and drive economic growth throughout the Wolf River Territory.
