Langlade County Economic Development Corporation Welcomes Melissa Kieper as Executive Director

Antigo, WI — The Langlade County Economic Development Corporation (LCEDC) is pleased to announce the hiring of Melissa Kieper as its new Executive Director.

LCEDC is excited to welcome Melissa to the organization as it continues its work to strengthen and grow the local economy. She brings a strong background in leadership, operations, and community-focused work, along with a proven ability to build and lead programs that create meaningful impact. She succeeds Angie Close, who recently accepted a new role as the Northeast Regional Director of the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation.

“Melissa’s experience, drive, and commitment to community success make her an excellent fit for this role,” said LCEDC Board President Tammy Walrath. “We are excited to welcome her to our team and confident that she will help move our mission forward in a meaningful way.”

Melissa earned her Bachelor of Science in Business Management from the University of Minnesota Crookston. She later completed a second bachelor’s degree in human resources management and organizational leadership, demonstrating a strong commitment to continued learning and professional growth.

She began her career in the nonprofit sector, supporting mental health programs and community collaboration efforts. She later transitioned into human resources and legal support roles, building a well-rounded background that blends people leadership with operational expertise.

“I’m honored to step into this role and join LCEDC,” said Kieper. “I look forward to working alongside the board, community partners, and local businesses to build on the strong foundation already in place and support continued growth across Langlade County.”

Outside of her professional work, Melissa enjoys spending time with her family and she stays active through reading, boating, and horseback riding.

LCEDC remains committed to advancing opportunities for businesses, communities, and residents, and Melissa’s leadership marks an exciting step in continuing that work.
