Security 101—Best Practices That Actually Work (Webinar)
Security doesn’t have to be overwhelming. This workshop breaks down essential practices—password hygiene, patching, backups—that deliver big impact with minimal cost.
By the end of this session, participants will be able to:
- Assess their current security baseline by using the provided checklist to evaluate core cybersecurity practices across devices, accounts, data, people, and vendors, identifying gaps marked as No or Unknown.
- Recognize the most common and preventable security risks affecting small and mid‑sized organizations, including weak passwords, missing updates, phishing attacks, and inadequate backups.
- Prioritize foundational, low‑cost security controls such as multi‑factor authentication, patching, backups, and access controls based on their ability to reduce business risk and improve resilience.
- Validate backup and recovery readiness by confirming that critical data is backed up, and restoration processes are understood and testable in the event of ransomware, data loss, or system failure.
- Translate checklist findings into actionable next steps by using the completed check‑off list as a roadmap to assign ownership, guide near‑term improvements, and support accountability after the workshop.
