Langlade Hospital Gets a New Administrator

For the first time in almost three decades, Aspirus Langlade Hospital has a new person in the head office.

On June 14, Andrew Andy Barth took the helm as new chief executive officer, replacing Dave Schneider, who retired this month after serving in the leadership capacity since 1989.

Barth comes to Aspirus Langlade Hospital with a diverse background in strategic planning, physician relations and operations and was selected after an intensive, nationwide search.

A national executive search firm was engaged to assist the organization in recruiting a health care executive with the proven experience, leadership traits and cultural fit to be successful, Janelle Markgraf, director of human resources and off-campus services, said.

Most recently, the new administrator served as group director of physician alignment and strategy for Centura Health, a 17-hospital system based in Englewood, Colo. Prior to that role, Barth was director of ambulatory services at Froedert Hospital and the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee.

Barth has extensive experience in leadership roles which has included working in an academic medical center and two community-based health care systems. This experience also includes working within Catholic health care and in rural health care settings.

He holds a master’s of health administration degree from the University of Iowa and a bachelor of science in health care administration and informatics from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

Barth and his wife, Anna, have three children and said they are looking forward to relocating to the Antigo area.
